Dr. Kathleen Laundy

Dr. Kathleen Laundy is a psychologist, family therapist and social worker in private practice in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. She specializes in clinical work with children and families who experience chronic illness. Dr. Laundy has an active psychological testing practice and she consults with school systems, youth service bureaus, day care facilities, and other programs serving children and families. Currently, she supervises graduate students in the Westbrook and Naylor School systems, and is she is the Past Board Chair of the Westbrook Youth and Family Services, Inc. She recorded a stress management CD called START, and she currently presents on social skills training for children, adolescents and adults on the Pervasive Developmental Disabilities spectrum.

Dr. Laundy has a special education undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati, and an MSW in social work from the Ohio State University. Following her marriage and family therapy training at Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy, she received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School. She did her pre and post-doctoral training at Yale School of Medicine and the Yale Child Study Center, and has served on the clinical faculty of Yale School of Medicine. She is an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Supervisor and a professor at the Central Connecticut State University graduate Counseling and Family Therapy program, where she teaches courses on child and family development, school-based practice and mental disorders. Since the passage of the MFT school certification bill in 2007, she has taught courses at CCSU that prepare MFT students and graduates for school certification. Her presentations and publications advocate for building multidisciplinary mental health teams in schools. She is Past President of the Connecticut Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She currently serves on the Board of the Valley Shore YMCA as their Past President.

Dr. Laundy was a Senior Partner at Clinical Associates of CT, PC, a multidisciplinary behavioral health care private practice in Essex, Old Saybrook, Guilford and New Haven. She was its Clinical Director for twenty three years.
